The Five Lakes- this place was one of sorrow, of a tragedy of the human race, one of their greatest mistakes. As Gemini reflected upon the horrors, he took a seat in the short grass, then layed back, closing his eyes, taking in the serenity of nature. A gentle breeze swept along the man, catching a few locks of his long, emerald hair.
The late afternoon sky cast a vibrant orange reflection upon the lakes, and illuminating the the scattered trees glowed as if autumn had already arrived. For this moment, Gemini was able to appreciate a moment of peace- the first in a long time. Such was the nature of an agent's life.
"Ayah..." he sighed, rolling his arms behind his head as he opened his eyes, taking in the sights. No birds flew overhead, and the sky wasn't quite like he remembered it. "This world... It's changed," the man lamented, his lips curling into a slight frown.
This whole war... it bothered Gemini. At first, the missions were just the ultimate test of his own skill, wits, an intellect. Now though... They'd lost meaning for him. It was as simple as carrying orders, and choosing which jobs to take on- usually the ones involving the least endangerment to civilians. Problem was, those objectives were getting few and far between. Sooner or later, he knew that, as an agent, he would have to take on the dirty work, and deal with any consequences of necessary action.
Sometimes this line of work really blows... I guess the perks make everything worth it though. Nearly limitless freedom, cheap travel, social connections, and beautiful women. Can't go wrong with those. Especially the women, Gemini thought, a slight laugh escaping him as the frown inverted itself into a devilish grin. It was worth it... right?

Today was a lovely day, the late afternoon sunset was a sight to behold and Lilia noted that she made a grand choice in allowing herself to spend the day outside contemplating things. Since it was relatively nice out, Lilia did not bother putting on layers of clothing and just kept things simple. She did not wear her usual outfit, no that was for work and she’d be practically ex-communicated as well as killed for her impudence. Instead she simply wore a halter shirt, elegant and brown. A jacket to match, a pair of pants with a cream belt and boots all in one nice little dignified outfit to show that she was a mature woman and was ever so proud of it. She was strolling when she saw the visage of a man that caught her eyes immediately. That green hair…oh she did know this man. He messed around with Valentines (only in vain for sometimes she saw a red mark of a hand on his cheek) among other things. He almost seemed slacker-esque, but she wouldn’t question trivial matters such as those. She over heard him saying to himself that the ‘world has changed’ and she chuckled, walking over to him. She was behind him and she hunched forward, she was hovering over him now, delicate pink locks gently brushing against his face, her hair being quite long indeed, but she was hunched forward enough that it would do so with ease. All he would see was obviously her face, hair, blue eyes, and two particularly plump mountains that were her breasts…well that was life. “Well, of course it has. How long did that take you to figure out?” Her voice was laced with a french accent, and her tone was smooth and fluid like water. It had a soothing quality which others notice immediately. “…you’ve never been one to use your head often…” She gave no smile, but it wasn’t as if her face was frigid like an ice queen…okay maybe a little.

Ah, yes, the beauty of nature was truly entrancing, so much that nothing could distract Gemini- save for the sudden shadow cast over him. As those locks of hair swept gently across his face, the man's eyes opened wide in shock and surprise. As he breathed, he took in a heavy, sweet scent, the likes of which he had never taken in. His eyes were met with those of a pure blue, so serene that it made the sky of Gemini's memory dull an plain in comparison. As a man, he also couldn't help but notice her massive breasts floating just inches from him, but he tried instead to keep his focus on her eyes. And that voice... it was so serene and captivating.
It was worth the perks, especially the women, he quickly decided, the grin upon his face falling into an apathetic line. She'd obviously been listening in on him, something he found flattering and yet confusing. He knew this woman from somewhere, and just couldn't place it, resulting in a slight twinge of guilt in his stomach. Pink hair... that especially should have been a give away. How many women had bright pink hair?
"Funny, I wasn't expecting an eclipse today. Somehow I think I prefer this to the sunlight though," Gemini quirked, unable to resist temptation.
"How long had you been listening in on me? I'm flattered and all that such a lovely woman would greet me, but I'm sure you can understand my surprise," he questioned, raising his right eyebrow in suspicion. She was definitely familiar, but he still couldn't place where they'd met. "I use my head just plenty though, thank you," Gemini retorted, a half-hearted chuckle escaping him.

Whenever she looked at his hair, she was reminded of well…something vegetable in origin, or if she wanted to be a bit more brutal she could say vomit, but at least it was a dirty green which was foul to say the least. She watched his facial expressions change like the seasons, from shock and astonishment, to an amused grin, and now to a simply apathetic straight expression. It was strange seeing a man so expressive, but once he had said something obviously about her breasts, she glared daggers at him, and her foot twitched with the extreme desire to want to kick his face in multiple times. “Well, excuse me for being well endowed. It really wasn’t my choice was it?” She spat, she moved back, her back now erect and she stood tall with 5 feet and seven inches of pure feminine pride. “Long enough.” She started, pausing, she held back a chuckle. “Don’t flatter yourself. All the people here are painted with delicate smiles. Once the world’s state is mentioned that fades into fear. …sometimes I wish to scream the truth, but…ignorance is such a nice thing to have, but for how long I wonder?” She gave off a heavy sigh, an expression of emotion swept across her face like the wind that did now, carrying forth her sweet pink locks like wings being lifted in the sky. She moved to sit next to him. “If you don’t mind, I’ll just sit next to you. I like a good break, no?” She glanced at him and then simply to the blazing sky. “…it’s beautiful today. The sunset…”

Gemini just sat there for a moment, blinking as he tried to figure out what he had said that had upset her so. She obviously hadn't taken things the way he meant, but he couldn't figure out where the miscommunication occurred, until he remembered his eclipse quirk. "Wait, wait, what!? That's not... I didn't mean! Augh, nevermind," he groaned with disgust as he sat up. In a contemplative, confused gesture, he raised his left knee up, and place his right elbow over it, glancing away from the woman as the breeze continued to flow through his wild hair. "Ignorance is a shield we hide behind when we know the truth will be ugly," the agent stated, letting a bit of his true self show.
I guess I should just be thankful she didn't smash my nose in or something, the man thought with shame and disappointment. Yet another opportunity blown because he didn't think things through before speaking. Yet, she didn't seem too upset. It was almost as if she'd expected such poorly chosen words. In fact, she moved to sit next to him, much to his surprise. "I don't mind so long as you don't try to strangle me or something. Believe me, I've had my fill," Gemini answered with a heavy sigh, trying to place just where he knew this woman from.
"Would you kill me if I made another attempt to compare you to the sun's radiance, I wonder? Nevermind, don't answer that," he groaned, laying back down in his previous position, eyes closed.A guy just can't catch a break, huh? Try to compliment a woman on her beauty and elegance and she thinks you're talking about her breasts. Way to go, Gem! the man criticized himself. Why was he even still trying?

He stuttered and stammered over himself, perhaps she had assumed too quickly? Maybe it was something more appropriate? Eh, well the damage is done and he didn’t seem at all happy with it. She didn’t really bother, the whole charade was behind her the moment it came. Things like that were harmless unless they tried advancing upon her physically. He replied to her ignorance remark and she thought over what he had said about it. It was true of course; ignorance was bliss until the truth reared its ugly head. That was how most humans are, ignorant to everything else in the world that doesn’t revolve around them. A death could happen in China, but unless the person was important to a family in the United States it was insignificant. “I wonder what would happen if a person acquired the ability of omnipotence. Do you think that person would suffer…for experiencing every person that loses his or her life as if that person is important to him? Ignorance is everywhere, some is insignificant, and some is very significant. I think if I had to watch many people die, I wouldn’t take much of it, but then at the same time…I already do. So that only makes me wonder more.” She looked at him when he said she could sit by him. Her blue eyes caught the inferno of the sunset, seemingly given a transcendent, otherworldly mixture of blue and red. He had then told her that he thought of her as a radiant sun goddess, she was flattered, but it was brief. She had heard many compliments in her life, but he seemed at least genuine enough to stumble when he makes an inappropriate advance. “…I don’t really mind. I don’t wallow over trivial things such as double-edged flirtatious advances. I’ve heard and seen much worse, so all I can do is be amused by it.” She nodded. “…you know…I heard of a green-haired man that had the name of a constellation of twins. Gemini, that’s you isn’t it?” The conclusion? A woman’s memory far exceeds a males, guaranteed.

Gemini contemplated the woman's words on the subject of omnipotence. She was just as deep a thinker, if not more so, than he, which left him very much impressed, if not a tad wary. "If a man could carry the weights and burdens of omnipotence, then there would be nothing left to exercise his power over. Everything has a price, humanity's foolishness being that of the highest. Power is no exception. It's how you use that power that can redeem or condemn you. Look around us- at these very lakes. This is what would become of the world if mankind became divinity itself. There would be no love, no concern- only exploitation," he answered, his undertone full of bitterness.
Just then, the images of a burning London flashed again through Gemini's eyes. People ran through the streets screaming as missiles touched down all over, the explosions leaving not even charred remains. He was only a small boy then... helpless to do anything but watch, unable to save anyone. That was the worst feeling he remembered- being unable to save anyone.
With a gasp, he returned to the present, his eyes wide with fear, the likes of which one would never expect from a grown man in a public setting. As he regained his composure, Gemini looked over to Lilia again, wondering if she had noticed anything at all. At the very least, he found himself reassured by her words about his unwarranted advances. Atleast he hadn't made too big a fool of himself...
Or so he thought. Upon hearing his name, the agent remained emotionless and calm on the outside despite his internal panic. Had he been compromised by Telum!? Perhaps... no, she was far too familiar to him. "Ah, so that explains the familiarity," he answered, reverting to his British accent. "Figures. Small world, eh?" Why hadn't he realized it sooner? Moreover, why had she said nothing? Was she just waiting to see how much he would remember?

“I understand that very much. Mankind cannot handle power without corruption. I think that’s the whole situation we’re going through right now. Every person is manipulative, we manipulate things to get what we like by the power of choice, and also with the power we do have. My mother, I remember she used to tell me as a little girl that ‘The soul is an invisible sword that only you can carry. The path of life is full of bushes and hindrances, but if you yourself with each decision cuts your own path into that wilderness. I never really understood the whole meaning, but now I do as an adult.” She smiled another brief, small smile. She lay back on to the ground, her hands placed over her stomach, in a very relaxed position. Her eyes closed, preferring to keep them closed for a while as if she was tired. “Sometimes you look back as a child and wonder why you made the choices on what you are now today. It’s a hectic life, but I know that I made the right decision. If you yourself believe that it was right then it is. That is how morality is born.” Lilia hadn’t paid much attention to him, but she of course did notice that he had gasped out of something. From the way it sounded it may have been traumatic. It was commonplace these days, it truly was. “Well, well…it’s about time. If you truly remember then you must know my name…correct?” Her eyes opened, and she turned her head to look up at him, curious and indeed wondering if he at least remembered her name.

Gemini laughed, though whether it was with amusement or sarcasm, even he wasn't completely certain. Lilia was right... people were incredibly manipulative... but only the majority of the time. There were good people in the world, even if they were becoming few and far between. "No, not all people. Only the people who already possess power struggle for it. Me? I couldn't care less about it. All I want is freedom- to be able to explore, to meet people, and to find myself. I don't care who has how much money, who's of who's blood, or any other nonsense like that. People are what's in their heart. So what about you, Lilia? What are you?" he asked, his eyes aglow with insight. "Or do you prefer the Rose Maiden?"
Gemini wondered how he hadn't recognized the woman sooner, and mentally criticized himself. After all, there were only fifteen in the special ops, so it wasn't exactly a huge group. The Rose Maiden... what was she doing all the way out here? Was she just enjoying the nature as Gemini was, or was there something more? The green-haired agent could only wonder as to his comrade's intentions. Why hadn't she just called him by name if she knew from the beginning? It seemed so strange...

“Hmm…” She had to seriously take in that question of his, but she was satisfied with him remembering her name and her title. That was something she liked for other people to know, it gave her pride. “I don’t…know. When I rose through the ranks and I actually had the power to do what I wanted I felt I could take on anything. That was a long time ago. Now, I know that I have the strength to protect, but I’m wondering if I should protect myself at the same time. Humans who have power are….very simple creatures actually.” “The wind carries birds into the sky, but without it they cannot fly. It’s the same thing with me. Beings that have power have the ugliest and most pathetic endings. Poverty and Weakness makes a person humble and kind, but power will eventually invite madness and loneliness it’s already started with me.” She sat up, watching the night begin to turn dark and solemn just like her heart at this point. “…I am alone. Even if surrounded by many people I still see myself in a void where I am the only one standing and breathing. I let no one in, and I repel those who have breached this armor of mine. I am simply a machine that automatically does as it’s told to do. That’s it. I don’t have the warmth a woman should; I don’t have maternal feelings for children. If someone died, I wouldn’t be stricken with emotion, and I haven’t cried in years.” You could tell she had been thinking on this for awhile now. It almost seemed to bother. “This is why I was given the title. The thorns, this is what it means.” The beautiful maiden with soft pink hair, of whom was covered in a dress of thorns, preventing those willing to give her attention to be driven off with hurtful scratches or gashes.

Gemini let out a sigh, sitting up as he gazed out to the now setting sun. This time he gave more thought to his words, doing his best to choose them with more care so as not to sound like a mindless dog with one thing in mind. "You're not alone, Lilia. None of us are, for better or for worse. Sure, we've all lost a great deal, all suffered... but it's that suffering that brings us together. We've risen above our suffering. We've pushed forward. We didn't lay down and die the day our lives were destroyed- no, we rose from the ashes," he answered, closing his eyes to help himself focus.
"I remember... When I was a little kid. I had bright, almost bleach blond hair and blue eyes, just like my family. We lived out on the coast. I was a spoiled little kid, and usually got everything I wanted. It's funny though... I don't miss any of the possessions. What I miss... Is the sound of the ocean, washing against the rocks and sand, echoing into the distance, the crystal blue sky always filled with hope... but most of all, I miss the silence- I miss the peace and tranquility. That's... why I cam here," Gem explained, letting out a heavy sigh.
"Ah, but I believe I went off on a tangent. You mentioned that as the Rose Maiden, you're renowned for your thorns; that you're little more than a machine doing as instructed? I think you don't give yourself enough credit. You've proven to me that you're a very deep thinker, that you care what happens to this world, and what happens to the people in it. You're so focused on your thorns, you're neglecting your petals, I think," the man finished, placing his right hand behind his head. He seemed to drift off again, and began twirling a lock of his odd green hair between his fingers.

“That…sounds like something in a romance novel. Perhaps a tear jerker…” She softly chuckled at what he had said. It was interesting what his perspective was compared to her own. His was fuller of heart, while hers may have been intelligent; they were cold compared to others. Aloof like the wolf at night. “Sometimes…like always, it really depends like everything else.” Even if she had lay down and died like a dog it wouldn’t have mattered in her mind. She’d actually be free if she had done so and given up, but she tried remembering the time when she made the decision to stand up. It seemed he liked to reminisce about his childhood, but upon mentioning he was a natural born blond she wondered how his hair got that way…odd. Well, even if she had forgotten the cause it wasn’t important. “Peace is always temporary. It’s never permanent, even if you had a peaceful childhood, it would eventually come crashing down someday in your life.” It was the sad truth with things. The moon began to reign supreme, it becoming the same color as her eyes, bright and blue. His comments proved to be amusing and intriguing at the same time, and she listened, giving him her full attention as necessary. “I suppose….” She began to think, giving off a slight pout as she did so. “I suppose you’re right, yes, but I’m not sure where to start to make those petals vivid and beautiful again.” She said, showing general concern over herself. “I think self-discovery in is order when I have the time.”

Lilia seemed to have some serious doubts about herself, and about peace in the world. She seemed to be amused by Gemini's blathering however. At the very least, it made him feel more at ease to know she at least seemed to be enjoying the conversation. With missions being nearly constant, Gem had almost forgotten what it was like to have decent company, let alone decent conversation. Lilia's philosophies were interesting, and were of such a deep level that he couldn't deny he was impressed.
"It does, doesn't it?" he agreed with a laugh on the comparison of his past to a romance novel. "Y'know, I think I see your petals just fine, Lilia. So what if you have trouble opening up? I'm a total bloke. Can't say the right thing to the right person to save my life. I'm little more than a fool who gets his face pummeled red, while you... I mean, listen to yourself. You're a good person. Strong willed, self-sufficient, intelligent... You have alot going for you if you ask me," Gemini complimented, gazing out to the moon.
I take it you know all about my mishaps though, if you knew me off the bat, the man thought, half-lamenting, half-joking. Can't say I don't deserve it, can't say I hope for better.
"Well Lilia, I tell ya what- I'm not going to pry into your personal matters out of respect, but if I'm not on mission, and you'd ever like to just talk philosophy or something, I'm not hard to get a hold of. Self-discovery is great and all, but I find it comes best from time with others," Gemini offered, laying back down as he shifted his gaze from the moon to the stars. Ayah, we all need someone, eh?

“Don’t belittle yourself. It’s not attractive on men, nor is it on women.” She spoke bluntly, looking at him. “You keep complimenting me, but you doubt yourself as well. Listen, if you need help on social interactions with women then try it on me. We can be companions, simply to get you on the right track of things.” She nodded. She crossed her arms over her chest; she thought it was a good idea as simple as it may have sounded. “You obviously have problems with women, I don’t see why. It’s not like your face is horribly misshapen or you’re obese.” She sighed, she wasn’t peeved, but she was merely lecturing him a little, trying in the least to help him out with a pep talk Lilia style. “I’m not some radiant goddess, I know I might be somewhat attract, but not in a Goddess-esque way. Attractiveness does not save you from raining bullets or getting captured. If I was ugly or beautiful it wouldn’t matter to me.” She smiled, holding it a little longer with him offering to spend time with her when she needed it. “I’ve heard that line before, but I know you’re genuine, no? I will when I need it.” Her gaze looked up to the stars, ah what a beautiful night it is. Her eyes shined with the heavenly bodies that could be seen up above. “The moon has never changed…even when the world has. I think it’s a constant almost sad reminder that our world is ever changing, while the higher up bodies like the moon simply gaze down with indifference. …but, the beauty we can see right now…Is a treasure too. That is what I believe.” I've never seen the moon...so blue like tonight...

Gemini widened his eyes for a moment as he realized that Lilia was right. He was very much belittling himself, and he hadn't even realized it. "You're right... I was so busy trying to do you proper respect I neglected to reserve some for myself. Good observation! I'll be thinking on that. Thank you, Lilia," he answered, a smile replacing the confused gaze that had lingered only moments ago... atleast, until she mentioned his problems with women.
As Lilia brought up that subject, Gemini felt as if he'd been tossed over a cliff; it was just how hopeless it made him feel knowing that he was that easy to read.
At the suggestion that he had compared her to a goddess though, the green-haired swordsman couldn't help but laugh. "You're beautiful indeed, my friend, but you take my compliments too far. I understand that there is far more than merely beauty to you," Gemini stated, taking note of her tone.
"Seems to me like a fair trade- my awkwardness with women for your closed off mentality... I think both will work, " he commented in regards to what he saw as their new friendship.
"Hm... The moon may very well change, if mankind sets its sights for it, unfortunately. I hope that never happens. Our kind has done enough damage in this world as it is," Gemini thought aloud in answer.(Not one of my better posts. >.< )
